About the show

Outside The Jukebox present “Mixtape: Rewind to the 80s,” a one-of-a-kind concert experience. Its debut season took place at Metro Arts from the 9th – 11th of March 2023, coming hot off the heels of its inclusion in RPAC’s Stage Sessions series on March 3rd. “Mixtape” covers some of the most iconic songs of the 80s, presented in an unexpected and electrifying way.

When the OTJ team find a mysterious box of Mixtapes at a garage sale, they realise the tapes are not only full of 80s hits but also the memories of an old relationship. Lovers? Friends? Siblings? Exes? OTJ are going to find out one song at a time.

Featuring the powerful performances of Hannah Grondin, Marcia Penman, Hayden Rodgers, and Oliver Samson, “Mixtape” is an evening of high-energy performances, thrilling vocals, and tongue-in-cheek comedy. Audiences can expect to be transported back in time as they enjoy a head-bopping lineup of classic 80s hits from artists like Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, U2, Prince, Madonna, ABBA, Queen, Cyndi Lauper, and many more, remixed and mashed-up in a way that will have them boogieing like it’s 1980-something.

With their totally unexpected remixes, bodacious mash-ups, and gnarly medleys,  you can experience your favourite 80’s songs again for the first time in this sonically thrilling and unique show. Whip out your neon tracksuit, slip on those fuzzy leg warmers, and come rewind in time with us for a night you’ll never forget. OTJ will have you boogieing like it’s 1980-something.
